Malama Honua Voyage

On a bright, warm Wednesday 25, March Morning, The senior school from Glenbrae School walked down to Pt England Beach to see the wakas which came from Hawaii. We left school at 8:45 am. The wakas were called Hourua Hokule'a and Hikianalia.

We got to Pt England at 9:05 am and sat down on the wet grass but Fraser and I sat on dry grass around the tree. We waited for 5 minutes and then we saw another waka coming in. The waka was called Hourua Hokule’a. It was big and it had a speed boat with it. We stood up and sang E Oho O as some of the people on the waka came in to the shore in a speed boat.

The speed boat went back for more people. When all the people were off the boat, we sang He Honore. After that, some people from the waka, gave speeches.

Finally we sang Nga Waka E Whitu. Then starting with Pt England we walked past the people on the waka and slapped their hands as we passed. We ran up the steps and waited in our classes. We walked back to school with Rooms 9 and 10 at the back and Rooms 7 and 8 at the front.
