Trip to Butterfly Creek

On the 9th of March 2015,  the year 6,7 and 8 students from Glenbrae School went to Butterfly Creek next to the airport in a luxury coach to learn about Dinosaurs and collect some information about other animals that are extinct and living.

When we got in to Butterfly Creek our guide came out of the cafe and talked to us. After that we followed Sunita happily into the dinosaur kingdom to talk about dinosaurs.  Paul spoke about dinosaurs and showed us a dinosaur’s skull, teeth and poo.  We also saw some huge robotic dinosaurs in the dinosaur kingdom. They were awesome.

After going to the Dinosaur Kingdom and learning about dinosaurs, we then went to see the fish. I saw a clown fish and some other colourful fish. Soon after that we went into the butterfly house and saw different types of colourful and beautiful butterflies and also some little monkeys.

After seeing the beautiful butterflies, we went to see the crocodiles. There were two little baby crocodiles and 2 adult crocodiles. We looked at them for a little while until it was time to go on the tram ride.

Then we walked to the train station for the train ride. We sat down in the tram and it was super colourful. We saw different dinosaurs. We also came across 2 very huge pigs. It was exciting seeing all sorts of animals from the tram.

After lunch we went to the farm. I saw some rabbits, parrots, sheep and goats. I held one of the baby rabbits and loved it. Then we went to the crocodile show and watched the crocodiles eat. The crocodile’s name was scar. Scar  jumped up and swam to where the food was hanging.

After that we all went back to get our bags and went out to the bus. Then we set off back to school. I really enjoyed it at Butterfly Creek and would love to go back again some day in the year.

Kiwi Can, Moses

Kiwi Can

WALT: We are learning to write a recount about positives and negatives about life.

For the last two Thursdays, Room 9 has been going to room 11 to learn from a new programme called Kiwi Can. This Programme is about building positive relationships, respect, values and positive communication.

Our tutors are Mr Numia and Miss Tuia. We played a lot of different games and did role plays in 3 groups. Through these role plays, we learnt about positive and negative things about life.

I liked the Kiwi Can lessons because we got to participate in different activities as a team.

Water fun day

On Monday, the 9th of February,2015, Glenbrae School students had a special event. It was called the water fun day. At the water fun day we did lots of fun activities. Some of the activities were called Walk the plank,The slide,The three legged race and Under and Over races. The Teachers that were helping to set the activities up were Mr Nath, Mrs Parker, Mrs Tofa, Miss Maruariki, Mrs D, Mrs Ripata, Mrs Kumar, Mrs. Raj and Ms. Elia.

First we went to class and got changed into our swimming clothes. Then we had to line up outside and walk to the courts. After that we sat down in our House lines.

When everyone was ready, Mrs. Tofa talked to us about races. Our class started with the three legged race. We had two cups and we worked in pairs to cary water to fill up our house bins.

When we finished we went back to the courts and sat down. Then Mrs. Tofa thanked everyone and asked us if we had fun. Lots of us said yes and then she told us which house had won the Water Fun Day races. There was a tie between Rata and Kauri.

After that we all went back to our classes and got changed into our dry clothes. Then we had morning tea.

I really enjoyed the water fun day with my friends from my class. It was so much fun competing against each other.
